Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and grew up in an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. Her father, Elroy Fernandez is an Sri Lankan. Jacqueline is the youngest of two siblings and has an older brother. In the 80s, her parents fled to Bahrain due to civil unrest over Sri Lanka. In the end, she was born and raised in Bahrain. After completing school in Bahrain she was awarded a Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue an Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. In order to further her passion for cultures, languages and other languages she enrolled in the Berlitz language schools in order to study Spanish as well as improve French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006 and she competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. After winning Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she stepped into the world of television. She was the host of a show on Sri Lanka's business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter of badminton champ Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew her life in Bangalore and is a native of Copenhagen. As a teenager, Padukone competed in badminton championships at national and international levels. But, she resigned from the game to pursue a career as a designer. Padukone is from Mangalorean heritage Her mother language is Konkani. Her ancestors come from the village Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state, which is located in India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an old badminton player who is of international repute, and her mother works as a travel agent.
